Hello,

Many years ago, fellow Gaiscioch recommended the Logitech MX518 mouse.   After many years of gaming service, my MX518 needs to be replaced.

Since they no longer make/sell the MX518 (I'm not interested in the refurbed ones on Amazon), I am hoping that someone can recommend a good mouse for gaming.

While the MX518 had programmable buttons, I don't need them.   I did appreciate how the MX518 felt in the palm of my hand.

I am trying to stay wired (I use a wireless mouse occasionally for work, and don't see how it would work well with gaming).

Am hoping some of you can recommend a mouse you enjoy and that you can recommend to others.

Thank you for any suggestions/recommendations,

Garyc

I recently upgraded to this keyboard and mouse:

Keyboard:  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N2ROO2S?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00

Mouse: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N4OBEJA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00

The keyboard has an old-school IBM M Keyboard click to it with no muddiness or stickiness.  You get a good key press.  Cherry micro-switches, not a sensor pad.

The mouse is weighted and can be adjusted for your play style.  Comes with a programmable DPI toggle just under the mouse wheel.  The thumb trigger is normally used to quick switch DPI to a low setting for easier sniper shots in FPS games, but I re-purposed it as my Push-To-Talk for TeamSpeak and GameVox.

Both have the added bonus of being lit, programmable keyboards.  Flashy, but I like playing with it.

Overall, both are VERY good, solid units.  You can feel the weight and quality to them, and I highly recommend both.

I used to have one of those i got it with ghost recon in a package deal.

basically wore it out until the coating on outer shell removed and side buttons broken.

then i bought a razor naga and my gaming changed. the day i bought the naga mouse with 12 buttons on the side where my thumb sits ...  i almost never used my keyboard anymore while playing mmo's.

also i went from from being a clicker to a excellent player when came to pvp. the minute I got thumb buttons i raised my dps, healing and overall gaming results by 5x's. Combos became faster, spells, everything faster.  Nage is kinda expensive  like 75 bucks and mine wore out.

I play games and use pc like 40+ hours a week. So i research things before i buy and I wore out the naga after 3 years, some of the buttons worn out from being pressed 100,000 of thousands of times.

After that i  found a Red Dragon Perdition... for 39.99 works same as the naga, have had it for about 1 + yr now and i like it better then the naga and it feels better then the naga.

this is the one i got  .. pic.. http://c1.neweggimages.com/BizIntell/item/0TP/0047/0TP-0047-00001/99x.jpg

good luck on your search.

I have the exact mouse he is talking about. It is literally the best gaming mouse in the world. No one makes a copy of it any more. Logitech made a few replacements but something just isn't the same about those.

As of today, Amazon has the G500s mouse available.  This is the one I've been using.

http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Gaming-Adjustable-Weight-Tuning/dp/B00CJD4HD2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1450133220&sr=8-1&keywords=logitech+g500s+mouse

If that one is not suitable, you could consider the G700s.  It says wireless, but can be used with a cable.

I used the Logitech mx518 for years and years... in fact I still have mine and it still works. It is one of my back up mice currently along with my Razor Deathadder.

But I have to throw my recommendation out there for the Logitech G602. It is the best wireless gaming mouse I have used. I have tried a few wireless mice for gaming but I always end up disappointed. This is first time I have liked a wireless mouse period not just for gaming and is the first time I have recommended a wireless mouse to others. I now have one for me and my wife and a few of my friends have bought one as well.

Super accurate and responsive, and very customizable via their software. It works amazing for mmos and other games with the 8 extra buttons. I have really taken a liking to it for GW2, and the more I get used to the buttons the better I can do in game. (also love it for macros with Creative Cloud apps, and my CAD work)

I currently have my 3 utilities then my heal, elite and profession skill one bound to the six side buttons. It makes it so much easier on my left hand. Leaves it open and ready for quick movements and dodging.

Battery life seems to be really good too.

Anyway just my two cents. Hope you end up with something you really enjoy.

Thank you everyone for your mouse suggestions.

I've got a lot of good choices here to pick from.

I stumbled upon this website, and it lists all the mice mentioned above, but puts them into gaming categories:

http://www.toptengamer.com/top-gaming-mouse/

I never thought about using a different mouse for a different gaming genre.  Makes sense to me.
